How am i going to answer this damn question of my kids ?

OK, this is one of the day that i am in the mood of speaking out somethings. And YES, this is what i want to put on the table.

Should we keep telling our kids:

"If you want something bad enough and you put enough efforts into it, you will get it" ?

I personally think the above sentence is one of the most popular uncompleted sentence in this world, you want to know WHY, right ?

OK, you got up in the morning, you son was standing next to your bed "Daddy, I want to become Bill Gate. Can i become another Bill Gate ?".

You might hear a voice in your mind "Holly crap, how should i answer him now ? I know his ability, he could become another Bill or another Gate for sure, but 'the Bill Gate', i don't know".

As a good daddy, you can not burst his bubble but you can not put a wrong thought in his mind either. You want to keep your son's spirit up but you don't want years down the road, your son will think "damn you daddy, you lied to me, I am flipping bugger here at McDonald, not in an office like at Microsoft"

So, where is the damn missing part here ? The above sentence did not mention anything about the scope of that "something". I don't have any advice to give out here to answer your kids. You are on your own here.

Another situation here is when people use that sentence in relationship. Your friend might come to you one day "Damn, I like that girl a lot, i mean a lot, and i tried for a long time but she does not love me back !"

Here you go, you already know the answer, right? You can only control 50% of the love game. You can show the girl that you are the best candidate but she might only like the runner-up candidate, she controls the other 50%. So here is my tip on this topic "Pick the right girl...!!!"
